We are very pleased with our broodmare program. We offer
year around mare care with all the extras. Mares are turned
out in grass pastures, grain fed twice daily, and we free feed area
grown alfalfa.
These mares are trimmed or shod as needed by our on grounds
farrier. Our health procedures include yearly dental
checks, de-worming every 90 days, and routine vaccines. Mares
are checked three times daily by our staff, and at feeding times by
the feeding crew.
Mares with special needs are kept close to the lower barn where
they can be watched. Occasionally mares do not get along with
others, these mares are taken from that pasture and places with
other mares or put up in a single pen.
When it is within one month of foaling we will bring your mare into
the waiting for delivery paddocks where the mare can be
watched closely until she is ready for foaling, a that time she
will be moved to the foaling barn where she will be monitored 24
hours a day until birthing. After she has had her foal we
will examine the foal, provide post-birthing care for both mare and
foal, have it checked by our veterinary, and when they are ready
move them to the nursery hotel we have designed for
mares with foals. Here we can keep a close watch on the mare
and prepare the mare for breeding.
